I need some help finalizing my speech.
Topic: Persuading people that snakes aren't evil creatures.

Main point ideas: (not even close to being finalized) if you could pick your 3 favorites and add whatever you can to them.

- way people are raised: some people are taught through religion or stories that snakes are evil while in some places snakes are worshipped and treated as family members

- snakes usually don't bite without reason, they give warning signs, and most bites are out of defense not just for the fun of it

- half of the time snakes are more scared of you than you are of them, most will choose flight over fight

- snakes make great pets - low maintenence (minimal cleaning, minimal feeding), low cost

- only a small amount of snakes are venemous

Mind you I am extremely open to all suggestions. Please I really need to have this done by Monday.

Also, this speech is only about 5 minutes long so I don't really have a whole lot of time to go through absolutely everything involved.

I think the low maintence and low cost depends on the species and size of the snake. Not sure I would push that one >>' Leads people to the wrong idea.

I think they are all good points, and I think it is important to display how they are regarded differently in other cultures. The pet thing... well, reptiles is kinda specialised, but I agree they do make a good pet dependant on species.. don't tell em to go get a GTP or a cali king to start lol or even a huge snake. But the point is still valid for those with sense. Its just clarifying it for those stupid ppl lol. There is a beginner level and an advanced level of entry so to speak.

I can't think of much else to add and 5 mins is gonna feel long lol!

I'd add in some of the positives like pest control and the medical posibilties they are finding in snake venoms

I actually ended up doing a section on how movies hype it up to make snakes look evil and the breakthroughs they are doing with venom. I also added the pet section, broken up like jo mentioned comparing them to say a dog and a cat.
