My camera is full, and so is my computer :( I have got some work to do. Life's been busy though, and I keep putting it off.
Anyhow, I ended up opening up the last egg over a week ago Saturday, and the poor little baby had died. I think it's yolk hadn't fully absorbed or something, so it was unable to hatch. There was a thick hard yellowish-white lump of a core that it's body was wrapped around, and that was connected to a slit inside it's tummy.
Last week, I weighed a few of the babies, and they weighed in from 4-6 grams. This was the day after I had filled their home with grasshoppers and whatever else I could find in the grass for them (besides bees). They had been ignoring my crickets, mealworms, and discoids.
I gave them more grasshoppers yesterday.
Today, I took them each out of their tank and weighed them. Eight weighed in at 6 grams, and two weighed in at 5 grams. I'm not sure how I will know when they are all eating. I think I'll have to go by weight. I'm thinking of releasing them when they reach 8 grams. I'll try catching more insects maybe Monday (unless they eat them all before then) and then weighing them next Tuesday. What do you think?
Since I had them all out of the tank, I did a bit of re-arranging and attempted to count the insects in the tank. Then, I added some tall grass to feed the grasshoppers. The snakes love it! So now they have a spagnum moss section, a stick section, a big shallow dish of discoids and mealies, a water dish, and a tall grass section. All the sections have sticks that they like to crawl on.
Living, Christ loved me; Dying, He saved me;
Buried, He carried my sin far away;
Rising He justified freely, forever:
One day, He's coming, O glorious day!
